Sean McNamara is the married partner with two kids and a boatload of insecurity. Through most of the series there is a focus on the difficult and dysfunctional home life of the McNamara family.

Nip Tuck Season 5 DVD

Season 5 of the popular Nip/Tuck brought some major changes to the show. The season begins with the McNamara/Troy partnership and all of their friends relocated to Los Angeles. There, they quickly see that they’re going to need a bit of publicity in order to attract new clients, and so they hire Fiona McNeil, a publicist with plans for the pair.

With its fifth season, Nip/Tuck slips the surly bonds of drama and enters a state of quasi-camp, which proves eminently appropriate for its mix of lurid melodrama and operating room theatrics. Four seasons of murder, adultery, serial killer hijinks and other over-the-top plot points precipitated the tone shift, which was cemented by the relocation of Troy/McNamara and staff to sunny Los Angeles; things turn immediately off-kilter as both docs become consultants to a prime-time sudser called Hearts 'n' Scalples. The boys go off their own respective deep ends as well, with Sean (Dylan Walsh) blossoming into a TV star and indulging in an affair with the teenage daughter of Julia's (Joely Richardson) lover (Portia de Rossi), and Christian (Julian McMahon) hitting new lows at every turn, including a layout for Playgirl and a turn as an escort. Along the way, there are encounters with a doctor (George Coe) who believes he's carrying an extraterrestrial implant; dueling Marilyn Monroe impersonators, a society matron who wishes to resemble a cat, and the return of Rosie O'Donnell's Dawn Budge, who endures a mauling by eagle while hang-gliding, assault by a sex maniac with a particular fetish, and vehicular assault by a lesbian biker. That's just the first 14 episodes. Despite the dips into Dynasty territory, Nip/Tuck remains anchored by its solid cast, with both McMahon and Walsh turning in straight-faced and sincere performances; they're well-abetted by Richardson (returning to the show after her departure in Season 4) and a solid guest cast, including de Rossi, Sharon Gless as Sean's agent, and John Schneider as an oily porn producer. They and other guests make up for the show's shortcomings, which unfortunately mount as the season progresses. One wonders whither Nip/Tuck from here, but not without a little wince. Extras are relegated to a brief introduction to the new season, a smattering of deleted scenes on Disc Three, and the by-now standard gag reel. --Paul Gaita

Her first move? To get them a job as advisers on a popular soap about plastic surgeons. This leads to the introduction of the cast of Hearts ‘n Scalpels, including leading man Adrian Stone and the show’s executive producer, among others.

While the first part of season five chronicles the adventures of the duo in Hollywood, it’s not all work for the characters. Julia returns, but it’s not exactly a happy reunion with Sean since she brings Olivia, her new lover, with her. Not only does Sean have to deal with that, he has to deal with Olivia’s daughter Eden and her manipulation of Annie. Matt pops up in LA as well, but instead of a lover, he brings baby Jenna with him. He’s also left Kimber, he claims, but it turns out he has a reason for wanting tons of cash, and that reason isn’t Jenna, it’s crystal meth. While he and Kimber are doing drugs together for a bit, Kimber does leave him to marry Ram.

There’s a lot more to Season 5 of Nip/Tuck, including the explosive ending when Colleen escaped from the mental ward and tries to kill Sean and Julia is rushed to the hospital after she’s shot.

The fourth season of Nip Tuck continues the saga of McNamara Troy and the twists and turns that go along with the show.

While there may have been an end to the Carver drama, many more plot twists are awaiting fans of the show.

The witty quick dialogue accompanies this season and brings with it some new drama for the cosmetic surgeon pair. In this season there are problems with Sean and Julia’s baby and Christian continues to take his introspection of his life to new heights.

There is a continuation of the best hour in television drama around. You have the guilty pleasure of watching rich and beautiful people live their tragic and superficial lives. It is absolutely fascinating in a way unlike any other television show.

Season four has some great performances by the guest stars. In fact, you will see the likes of Jacqueline Bisset, Rosie O’Donnell and Alanis Morrisette who give some of the most fascinating performances of the season.

It is hard to beat the season three storyline, but season four delivers the same great writing and some new interesting plots. The fans of the show are not disappointed with the continuing story of Sean McNamara and Christian Troy.

When the first season of Nip Tuck hit the airwaves in 2003, many people were taken aback at the unusual premise. We have all been treated to medical shows and television about the inner workings of hospitals and doctors, but nothing like the graphically wonderful Nip Tuck.

The story focuses on two Miami cosmetic surgeons who are as interesting to watch as the constant parade of patients that make their way through their offices. In the first season we are introduced to these two doctors and the practice of McNamara Troy. Sean McNamara is the married partner with a teenage son and a grade school age daughter. His wife, Julia, is finding it difficult to determine if she loves her husband and often finds herself attracted to other people, most notably, Christian Troy, her husband’s partner.

Christian Troy is one of the most delicious borderline between good and evil characters that you will ever find on television. The endless parade of beautiful women that move through this character’s life will leave the viewer in awe. Christian Troy is one character that lives a decadent lifestyle and is delightfully unashamed.

The scenes in the first season of Nip Tuck will cause a bit of queasiness for those with a less than strong stomach. It is not the amazingly graphic scenes and the sex-laden plots that grabbed the attention of so many viewers during the first season. It was the witty and biting dialogue and spot on writing that has earned this series its popularity.
